i know those leaves are good for bettas but are they poisonous to any other community fish like tetras and corys?

Hard to believe there's not an answer to this yet. I could not say for sure but I think that if it's ok and even beneficial for a betta, it should be okay for other community fish. Unless it's a quite senstive fish, I wouldn't try it. Please wait for a person more sure in their answer lol

You can use them with other fish. Also some people use them with invertebrates like shrimp.

As far as I know, certain types of almond are poisonous for some animals, but its the almond, not the leaf.

I also am not an expert on the subject

Currently using IAL in all my tanks. There's Betta, Dwarf African Frogs, Corydoras, Swordtail, mystery snails, rams horm snails, MTS, Ghost shrimp and Red Cherry Shrimp in these tanks. All are doing great. The IAL do leach tannins into the water so the water is light tea colored but that can be cleared with Carbon if you don't like the looks of it. I find it pleasing and natural.
