anyone who can find me a nice balance of fish for my 110g that will be planted. the fish needs to be compatable with the angel that i have now that is adult size and be able to thrive in a ph of 6. the winner will be decided by what i decide to put in my tank.
i am looking for a tank that is active and colorful. feel free to ask as many questions as possible. this is very importaint to me to find just the right selection of fish that will live togeather and thrive. please be specific and feel free to explane why you picked the fish that you think will work for me.
good luck to all and i cant wait to see what you all come up with
I say a nice group of bosemini rainbow fish 10-15 with 12 striata loaches with 20 or so cardinals and a nice big school of cories. With a nice pair of rams.

I would go with a 2 seperate groups of dwarf cichlids such as cockatoos, kribs, smiling acara or any of the asstd small dwarf cichlids. That would be my lower strata inhabs. For mid levels,I would stock 30 or so cardinal tetra,or serpae tetra. For upper I would stock a school of 10 or more silver hatchets or 20 marbled. For added interest put a peacock eel in for a where is waldo fish.

I agree Some dwarf cichlids and some smaller schools sound like great suggestions. thumbs2:
How were you planning on giving 1000 rep? Not to rain on your parade or anything, but even if you had 1000 rep yourself, you would have to rep someone 100 times to do that, so over 50 days. Its probably a form of cheating as well, one rep and some gifts is probably more appropriate. If you need money for gifts just pm me.

Edited the original post. People would have given you a list without you giving away half your points, you know. They do this all day because they are just nice people.

110g is a ton of room
What I would do:
8 angelfish
8 bolivian rams
20 Von Rio flame tetras
10 hatchet fish
12 cories
1 gold nugget pleco
Cardinals would look very nice in there instead of the von rios, but they're a torpedo shaped fish that would look delicious to the angels.
Very heavily planted with eco-complete as substrate so the cories don't have problems with their barbels.

It's not as much room as you'd think - 110 does sounds big though. The tank is only 48" long, same as a 55. It's 30" tall and 18" deep.

I haven't read all the other responses but here is what I would do.
1-3 more angelfish of approximately the same size. Those are your center piece fish.
4-6 german blue rams (or yellow rams) to add a spash of blue/red color.
6 emperor tetras for some purple coloring and some schooling.
12-15 green or bronze corries (depending on what color your substrate is), for lots of low bottom dwelling schooling and movement.
2-4 albino bristlenose plecos for cleaning and a bit of orange color.
4-6 Rainbow fish could also add some color

Ok, good to know the dimensions, so I revise it to 6 angels, maybe up the von rio tetras, and the rest of the stock I said earlier. Actually, that tall of a tank is good for the angels.

From top to bottom
10 Hatchets
3 Angels
3 festivums
1 centipede knife
3 bumblebee catfish
3 bn pleco
10 corys
All south american, all good for your pH. And it's symetricalthumbs2:

rainbows won't tolerate the low pH

i've just added 6 angels and 8 bronze corys to my 75. i plan on 12-15 red eye tetras, 20 glolite tetras and i'm thinking about 2 pair of GBR
wolf_eyes

If i had that tank I would do:
1 more angel for a pair
12 sterbai cory for bottom feeders,
6 otos for algae control
6-8 congo tetras
15-20 harlequin rasboras
a pair of GBR
It's not a biotope, but it would definitely be colorful.

20 Green Neon Tetra
20 Chili Rasbora
20 Platinum Barb (for the sparkles, heh)
3 pair of Rams
6 Otto cats
10 Pepper Cory
Unfortunately your water is probably too acidic for snails or I'd suggest Nerite, MTS, and some of the different coloured Rabbit snails.
Eco-Complete substrate, well planted, some floating plants like Red Root Floaters and Dwarf Water Lettuce.

chili rasboras, platinum barbs, and neons would quickly become food for the angel you already have and since chilis/platinums are rarer and more expensive than neons, I would probably not do them. If i remember correctly, deeper bodied, 1.75 inch or above fish are considered safe from predatation of full grown angels. You could, however,do two other types of larger schooler fish and keep the rest of the stocking suggestion.

How big is this angel?... oh well, maybe it was what I'd want, not what was best for his tank, heh.

For me a large shoal of Harlequin Rasboras. Golden Zebra Loaches. Kulie Loaches. And a shoal of SAE's.

Siamese Algae Eaters. :22:
Hey mac what are SAE's? (south american empanadas lol jk)
SAE's = Siamese Algae Eaters.
They are great fish. And IMO a very over looked fish in some respects. Most people get them to rid a tank of algae. Not knowing they are wonderful tight schoolers. And make a nice look in a tank in a group of 9 or more.

ok guys i know it took for ever for me to make up my mind because jaysee and nic made it so hard for me to decide. i know im breaking the rules but i am taking a mix of the both and twisting it a little lol however my decision is to go with a total of
2-3 angels
2 GBR's
1 centapede knife
3 festivums
6 congo tetras
10-12 corrys
2 bn plecos
Since i broke the rules i think that both should win
1000 pts for jaysee for having the most oridinal selection
and 500 pts for nic for having alot of fish im using
great job guys you gave me alot to think about and now i have a buetiful selection of fish
ps do you think i will be over stocked for a 110g

i dont think your over stocked. but i wonder about the knife. i know ghost and clown knives get large and your other fish may become snacks down the road

the knife is kinda optional. i dont care about it eather way but alot of people thought it was cool so i thought i would get it. ill reasearch it alot more and then make my decision but im really happy to hear i would not be over stocked.

Centipedes are community safe (for the most part) and grow to 8 inches.
