Hello again!

Been a while since I last (and first) posted. For those of you who don't remember I am the guy who inherited an 80 (thought it was 90) gallon aquarium from a commercial tenant. I have about a million questions to ask as I am fish dumb at the moment.

My current task is to identify the little critters in my tank.

I know for certain I have one Oscar and two Pacu's and I believe I am 90% positive that I also have two Jack Dempsey's and two Red Devils. Below are some pictures to help me:

In this shot I see I have:
1 = Jack Dempsey?
2 = Pacu's (or "the pests" as i like to call em)
3 = Red Devil?
4 = No idea, will post a better shot.
5 = Another Jack Dempsey?

Here is a bit of a better shot of the unknown. Its a bit blurry because it was taken with my crummy camera phone instead of my actual camera:

Unknown sucker fish, cam phone picture and water quality makes for this poor image:

And finally my Oscar. What a great fish to have he or she (how do you sex fish?) has a nice personality and always seems to greet you when you walk by. Also like the camera because it was difficult to get a shot of individual fish without him getting into the shot!

Thanks for all the help! I really need to fix this mess of an aquarium up! More questions to come!

Wait for a more expert opinion but....

1 Jack dempsey
2. Pacu
3 Blood parrot
4. jaguar cichlid
5 Green terror

The "sucker fish: is probably just a common pleco

I don't think you can sex oscars.

Good luck.

I'm not an expert but I'll give it a shot

1. Jack Dempsey

2. Pacu

3. Blood parrot

4. I wouldn't have a clue sorry

5. Green Terror

The sucker fish, how many rays has it got in it's dorsal fin when it's up? Also how big is it and how long have you had it (or how old is it if you got it off of someone else?) He doesn't look very big (to what a common can get) if you've had him a while.

You should be doing water changes on that tank more than once a week.
It really needs it now!
Have you a test kit yet?
With those fish in that tank you will need heavy filtration.They will not all get along either.As they grow you will have territorial issues.
The parrots will not be able to defend themselves very well.

3 is a blood parrot
4 looks like a jaguar cichlid
1 and 5 look like green terrors to me, but I'm pretty new at CA/SA cichlids so it's just more of a guess.

Thad, I agree with the others on ID but you will be having a major problem before long. These fish need to get thinned out in that tank with hiding spaces for them. The blood parrot will be the sacrificial lamb in that tank because he's not able to defend himself due to his mouth not closing.

you need to either get a bigger like 250 gallon tank for the pacus or rehome them. they will not be able to live in an 80 gallon even if you kept one in there. they can grow up to three feet long!!

One more question:

Are they all Cichlids?

I do have a felling that the Pacu's aren't. I know the Oscar is.

All of those are cichlids, except for the pleco.

The Pacus aren't cichlids , and neither is the pleco. Pacus are major tank busters that approach 3' in length and weigh 50 pounds. To house them you'd need a large stock tank or pond . I honestly don't know why stores sell those fish, they're just not for the average hobbiest, and are sold as beginners fish. It's nuts. Kinda like that tanks gonna be before too long.

That's what I was thinking too, the guys who started this mess of a tank obviously had no clue.
