I do believe that high speed has finally hit my backwoods area!! It looks as I may soon join the 20th century along with all the rest of you.
Oh, I have a tip to pass on that I got from Dell. Did you know that they told me a screen saver will help save your monitor? I had no idea and usually don't use a screen saver myself but have one now. Have you heard of that before?

yeah. screen savers have come with all computers since 1995. It uses less energy than the regular screen. Congrats on the high-speed.

My first computer come without Windows.....can you believe it! You went into DOS to do everything......which obviously wasn't much. No internet even. I am giving my age away for sure now! I knew they had screen savers but figured it was just one more "running" program I could do without. I certainly didn't think it could help your monitor in any way so I've learned something today.

So does this mean we can start posting full size pics? Since you WERE the only person with dialup in that survey ^_^

Screen Savers prevent Burn in. If your screen is always showing the same thing, the image can get burned into your monitor, especially bright pictures. With new monitor it isn't a problem (LCD's). I see it all the time in computer stores that are selling "off lease" monitors, they'll have a company logo or log-in screen burned in. Once that happens, it can't be fixed.

No!!!!!!!!! Because I was the only one to answer the survey did not mean I was the only one who has dialup. Many people who happen to live in the Toolies have the same problem as I do getting high speed.
Don't even go there. The stink you got going over the lottery hasn't even died down yet. YOU ARE A BRAT AND I'M LOOKING FOR THAT WOODEN SPOON.

Suddenly it's not looking too hot again for me, either. My manager in the complex has remote high speed but when I search for covered areas by using my address, it says high speed is not yet offered in this area. ???????? sheeesh
How can this be?

You would still need an internet connection to a router in the apartment complex.

I'm your competition there! Hi-speed ends just a 1/2 mile up from me. I could get it, but it would cost me $3000, and that's if my other 4 neighbors got it too!
Dial-up sucks!

Thanks for the link kimmers! Looking for a good one like that.
By the time it's done downloading, I'll 3 loads of laundry done :ezpi_wink1:

I ended up buying the program to get rid of the ads that kept popping up to buy it. LOL Then I asked myself when I had a fish aquarium already on my screensaver list, why did I purchase one? I do dumb things like this now and then but it is lovely to look at and 3 different set ups. First time I've been able to have a cichlid and rainbow tank! It's $20 to purchase.
You look at the fish here in this beautiful setting and feel bad you have them in a glass box!

i want the screen saver where you are actually interactive with the fish, and feed them and do water changes and all that.
Lady Hobbs
03-25-2007, 04:19 PM
Just what I want! One that you can clean their tanks!!!!!! sheesh
I like having one tank that requires no work on my part, no high ammonia readings and no plants swimming at the water line!!!!!!!!!
