View Full Version : will my rainbows school?
I was told at the fish store--should have come here first that rainbows would school if they were different varieties as long as they were about the same size. I have 7 and they are all staying with their own kind and one is by himself. It has only been a short while--will they eventually school or should I at least go buy a couple for my lonely fellow?

How big is your tank?
46 gallons so I'd prefer no more fish unless I have to

Drumachine is right on. It would be very unusual for fish of different species to skoal. Even tetra's won't when of different types. The skoaler of the rainbows are the neon rainbows. The others do not "skoal". They merely swim around together.
Here's a good site for the rainbows. Some of the species need salt in their water, also. Depends on the region they come from so you may want to check on your particular species of rainbows.
