Hi folks,
I know some people that keep Apple Snails in with Malawi Cichlids, but they don't use Cichlid Lake salt or buffers.
My question is, could an Apple Snail survive in my Cichlid tank with PH of 8.2 and lake salts and buffers?

Also, what do they eat?

This is a pretty good site:

My guess would be no. Ever put a salt on a leech? Same thing would happen to an apple snail. The can't take any concentration of aquarium salt as far as I know.

i had mine with cichlids, but no salt. Salt dissolves snails and slugs mucous, killing them.

Thanks for that link and all the answers!

I use cichlid lake salt which is different than salt, but I get your point.

I guess it is not a choice for my tank.

I could put them in my tropical 30 gallon though.
They are real pretty looking.

Thanks again!
