so my 45 gal goldfish is starting to be overrun by algae...and i am a tad lazy. i some cleaning in there, but would like some help. so question is: how many mystery snails could i put in there to help keep the algae down and add a little variety to my tank? was thinking about three, but how many would be too many in the long run once they eat all/most of the algae? i am not expecting them to keep it spotless, but not having to scrub EVERYTHING would be nice. thanks in advance for your help?

Get japanese trapdoors, they breed slowly and are very good algae eaters.Get 3-5 of them.

I have gold mystery snails. That was all I could find here, except for Nerite snails. They do great work! My betta tank was overrun, I dropped four in and by the next morning my tank was clean! (I then separated them amoung my other tanks. I have 2 in the betta tank (one for each side), one at work and one in the guppy/guarami/tetra tank.

Just keep an eye on the snails to make sure your goldy isn't trying to eat their little antenna off.
