Was in the shop tonight to pick up some bee shrimp. Cute little fellows, a lot more active than my glass shrimp ever were. They've been in the tank for a few hours now but I still see 'm swimming around the upper region of the tank. I put in a small shred of boiled lettuce but that's not attracted any attention yet.
I also bought some frozen artemia. This baffled the fish at first, they're used to frozen mosquito larvae but these apparantly smelled interesting but tasted different. Here's a pic of one of my cardinals sampling the new food.

Nice! What substrate is that btw? Looks so uniform...

I have no idea. Picked it up in the local shop because it looked good. Got some tetra substrate underneath to provide nutrients for the plants.
GREAT picture! Just curious--how big is the cardinal in the pic? I also would like to know what that substrate is. Can you go to the shop and ask? Man-made whatever it is.

Could you post up a picture of the Bumble Bee Shrimp I am looking at getting, one I would like to see what they look like in a aquarium.
Thanks

That cardinal is about 3cm. I'll see if I can find the bag of that white substrate and let youknow
Here's a really bad pic of one of the shrimp.

That is not a bad pic, it is a beautiful pic! Shrimp are way cool, I never would have guessed it until I bought ghost shrimp to feed my dwarf puffers, who ignore them BTW, so when I ran across some crystals, amano and cherries I snatched them up and started a 2 gal shrimp tank. Here are some pics of mine now that they have settled into their new home.
Here is one of the cherries with a crystal

A crystal.....not alot of white on these guys but pretty nonetheless

This was in the amano tank, but with the orange I suspect it might be something else

wijnands, I believe that your definition of a "bad pic" is radically different from most of us here. Great shots, just great! What kind of camera are you using?

D50. Photography is my other hobby. This is, to me an acceptable pic:

Next time I can be bothered I'll see about borrowing some decent lights for the tank and hopefully that will help.
That substrate, no idea, it says aquarium and beach color on the bag, that's it.
That amano shrimp also looks interesting
I am waiting on the review of the 40x to get into digital SLR. Great pictures, just wonderful.

The orange in the Amano shrimp is what they eat, their stomachs. I have one also and as soon as he eats a flake of food his little stomach changes color.
Thank you very much for the Bumble Bee Shrimp Picture. I am going to be getting some very soon for my 30g.
Very Nice pictures from everyone!

I don't think the orange on that shrimp I posted the pic of is from food because he has been that way for several weeks, regardless of what I feed, and the other larger one never looks like that. I will eventually browse around and figure it out, plus, alot of shrimp can crossbreed so it may just be a mutt:hmm3grin2orange:
