View Full Version : Stupid snail question

My two girls were over by the 29 gallon cory and shrimp tank and my 9 yr. old asked why we had a baby snail in the tank. Now I have never put any snail in the tank except for the one I got which was a large one from petco which didn't make it. This is very small and dark with what looks like a point at the end, is this O.K. to have in the tank with pygmy cory and cherry shrimp with babies, I only see one and have absolutely no idea how in the world this could have gotten in the tank unless it has been on the java moss for over a year or so. Also I was thinking about taking the snail out but if it could be good in the tank I might keep it in.

They do eat a lot of algae and scraps but one can eat only so much!
The more they eat the more snails you will get.It always seems to work out that way! lol
I would pluck it and keep watch for more. They are a sexual and breed themselves like crazy. It sounds like a pond snail.
I am positive its laying eggs as we speak!

I'd fish him out and dump him. I so hate snails. LOL

Is the tank planted?

Snails wont do any harm to baby shrimp or cory fry, except compete for food but they lose that race by a mile of course.
