Hello,
I bought a 27 gallon tank with a filter from craigslist,
and I just want to know what you think of it. It's an Atlas liquid filter, and doesnt say the amount of gallons on the box or the filter.
It looks big enough anyway though. About all the info that it gives is this:
-Q. Max L/Hr:800
Watt:10
H-M:1 (I have no idea what this means)
800F is the brand
It's completely submersible. When I plugged it into the wall for two seconds, it made a humming noise, so in the water that sound would be amplified, and be even louder.
Have any of you had any experience with this filter? If so, what did you think of it?
Thanks

Ive never heard of Atlas.
Most ppl here use the AquaClear line - in your case, you should do the AquaClear50 (AC50)

For Hang-On-Back filters:
I like ac for performance
I like topfins also because they are about half the cost and come with a lifetime warranty.

I cannot find any info on that filter.
I also highly reccomend a hang on the back filter. They run silent unless your water level is low.Aqua clear rock!
I have never had a Petsmart brand topfin but Turk swears by them.

I've never heard of that brand either, sorry man.
TopFin filters are pretty popular and price effective. I've always been partial to Marineland's Penguin filters. They are pretty universal and easy to fine replacement parts and filters.

It may have no gallons capacity printed, but according to your post
-Q. Max L/Hr:800
It says that it has capacity of 800 litres per hour. That's 211 gallons my friend.
Oh and H-M, H/M or H-max is usually the depth of optimal performance of the filter, in your case (since the measure are probably in SI) is 1 meter.
In other cases H/M is used for the pressure output (psi) (term : Maximum Head) if this is the case, your pump has either 1 psi or 1 atmosphere pressure output(14.7 psi).
Are you sure it's not a pond pump/filter? It seems quite powerful for any indoor tank.

I found 2 things on Atlas filters:
1. Pool filtration, and not ANY pool - Olympic size pools as well as massive marine aquariums.
2. Drinking water filtration.
It sounds like this filter MAY be some sort of variation of #2.
My advice? get an Aqua Clear 50 and call it done. They are not too much cash, and my 2 29 gallon tanks swear by them!thumbs2:
