Or Rummynose tetras if you are good with tank maintenance.

When i first saw "rummynosed tetras" i thought people kept spelling it wrong, and it was "runnynosed tetras".lol. They are pretty active though.

Will RummyNose Tetras get along with my fish. Do they take a lot of maintence?

I dont see why they wouldnt get along. The bioload would also seem to be fairly small.

Rummynoses will get along fine with your fish, but they are not as hardy as your platies. Their noses are red in good conditions, and so are a good indication of water quality. You will probably want to do weekly 50% water changes.

Ok, Cool.
Will I have to do a 50% change if my Nitrates are below 20?

Well, I've read some articles about the importance of water changes regardless of nitrate levels, simply because they replenish trace elements and whatnot in the tank, but I'm not sure just how true they are. Doing a 50% water change weekly regardless will save you money on constantly testing nitrates though :)
The amount of your weekly water changes will be largely impacted also by your filtration. I am finding that I can do my changes with the two 55 gallon tanks once every other week and water conditions are none worse for the wear.

The filtration just breaks down the ammonia and nitrites though. If you have a heavily stocked tank, all the filtration in the world won't do anything for the rapidly increasing nitrates :)
EDIT: That is until they find some way for protein skimmers to work for freshwater ;)

My current setup for my 29 gallon is
1 lyretail molly
2 Dwarf Gouramis
3 fancy guppy
6 neon tetra
5 glofish (zebra danios)
Everyone is getting along. The orange guppy likes to follow my yellow molly around as if they were best friends. Then the yellow guppy likes to follow the orange guppy because he wants to school. The turquise guppy is kind of a loner for the most part. My neons are just pretty looking and hover around in a school most of the time. The glofish are very active They like the top of the tank mainly and aren't very schooly and remain loose unless they get spooked. My sunset Dwarf Gourami has established his territory by a pile of hollowed out lava rock on the right side of the tank while my normal colored Dwarf Gourami hangs out behind my fake driftwood ornament and java moss on the other side of the tank. All of the other fish seem a nervous to go near my Gouramis. I think the only thing really missing in this setup is some true bottom feeders. If I were to do it over I might have dropped the glofish for a school of 5 panda cory catfish...

Danios definitely fit the bill for active fish, and are generally well mannered if there is a school of them. They are greedy though and will try to snatch all the food long before it hits bottom!
My experience with rummynosed is limited, I only have 1 (uninformed purchase before knowing better) and he does just fine and keeps a nice pretty red nose all the time. He pretty much hangs with my neons and has been thru alot of me not knowing what the heck I was doing in the beginning with my tank. Trying with RO water to lower the ph in my tank, only to watch it keep swinging back up. Slippage on tank maintenance when my dad required my attention while he was battling cancer and kidney failure. He is still hanging around as happy as can be.
If you like tetras there are several different ones that can really add some color variety, not just neons, look around. But generally tetras are pretty mellow, not as active as danios.
Great clarification, Chrona, thank you for the addition/elaboration!

Ok, Thanks for all the ideas. I am thinking I am going to get some Danios.
So by my signature how many more fish can I add?
Thanks, Once again everyone:19:

You have quite a bit free space in there if my calculations are right. I'd say go with 10. Does anyone agree with 10?

That's about right. 10x small fish 1.5 inch or so should be fine. Maybe some more rasboras to get a school going. That clown loach is gonna be a tankbuster though.

Get a gigantic mystery snail!
Petsart has them here, and they are ok. But I went to my LFS, and they had some HUGE ones!
I don't know why, but sometimes watching my snail creep along interests me more then my fish!

Uh no clown loach. 1 will already be a tankbuster in a 30g and will make you pull your hair out trying to replant everything. 2 will cause you to commit hari kari ;)

Replant everything? Will they uproot all my plants?

Probably not when it's small, but as it gets bigger, you'll notice a lot of uprooted and some chewed plants. Apparently they are known to even chew through rubber bands, so you can only imagine what they'll do to leaves
