I think my corys have ick I don't know anything about fish sickness but they have white spots. I don't know how they got it it is just them and a angel in a 110g. What do I do. Is it ick? I don't want to my angel to get it. I have been running my 10g but I don't know if the cycle was broke because there were no fish in it for a wile how do I know if I can put the corys in there as a quarintine. Like a ur ago my mom gave me some ick meds I attached pics of the corys and the meds tell me what u think.

That's ick all right. The easiest remedy I can think of is raise the temp to at least 80 and leave it there for a week. If you have an airstone, turn up the flow during this time, because the oxygen levels will be lower during this procedure.

The tank has only been set up for 2 weeks and I did a 30 percent water change last Sunday I was going to do another today and I noticed the spots.
Ph 6
amm .5
nitrite 0
nitrate 0
I used seeded media but only had the angel in there for a week by himself
forgot about that technique, hats off to that i have not seen ich for a long time
knock on wood
edit: the angel could have added it, sometimes the introducing fish can release disease and not seem to be affected iv'e had cases like this

I only have a heater for the 10g I ordered one already for the 110g it will be here on the 6th (water is naturally 78 in the summer). Is it safe to just put them in the 10g. Should I use the meds I got.

Ok I put the corys in the 10g and did a wc before I put them in but like a moron I forgot declore untill I was ready to put the corys in so the cycle is definatly broke. Anyway when all the corys were in for a little I looked at them and the white spots were gone. Is it possable they had white stuff on them. Does ick hide. I'm confused what to do.
it could have just been something on them
got pics of it?

ich doesnt hide but it can take 2 weeks to completely cure them. Angel most likely carried it into the tank - which means you'll need to treat it too.
Whatever you do, DO NOT USE SALT with corys.
Also, do you have a filter on the 10g? Im confused

I had ick on my corys a while back I used Jungle Ick Clear tablets (2/3 dose) and it was gone in a day or two. With whatever treatment you use just be careful, as corys don't have scales and have rather sensitive skin.

i dont think i could have been the angel because i have had him for about a yr and he has never been sick. he still is not sick its just the corys. i do have a filter on the 10g. but it has been running on the 10g with no fish. i tryed to put the 10g filter on the 110g to keep it cycled but it does not fit on the back of the 110g. i will be sure to change meds the meds i have now are only for fish with scales i think.

Watch the angel closely for signs
You can use salt with corys to treat ich, thats the method I use a lot. You use 1/2 dose for sensitive fish.
Nowadays some of the ich meds claim to be safe for sensitive fish and people report success. Rid Ich+ is one
80F wont kill ich, just speed up its life cycle. You need 86-87 to kill it outright.
Dont raise the temp when using meds. Only when you use the salt treatment. In both cases run an airstone
That being said, I dont think its ich, ich is about the size of a pen dot from a ballpoint and the same shape, round. It looks like something else, what Im not sure at the moment. Are clearer pics an option?

I'd be weary of using mess with cory since they are affected by mess different then fish with scales on them.

i will try to get better pix but it is hard because my computer crashed i have been using my iphone for the past month for everything i do on AC except for when im at work. i am really puzzled by the fact that the spots went away instantly when i put them in the 10g. is it possable that they just had something white on them. i did notice the other day there was white stuff floating in the tank i just thought a little poly fill got out the filter but i wasnt sure if it was that or a little calcium form the rocks (can calcium build up and be visable suspended. i just want to be careful and properly diagnose my fish so that i can treat them.

ok after a talk with jaysee, i think i found the root to all my evil. i seeded my tank but did not keep enough fish to feed the bacteria. so jaysee is going to give me some giant danios and used media so i can get this tank running right. Thanks Jaysee u r always a great help... also the corys will stay quarintined for a week or two and both tanks will be treated with the meds i got today.
im surprised we didnt hear from monkeypox this is usually his field of expertise. i guess he actually works at work. unlike me lol jk

My area of expertise is chemical and biological filtration, not fish diseases sadly.
It does sound like you're in good hands though.
