I was just looking through the photo gallery and I notice that a lot of people upload photos that are unnecessarily large. Most people are using a monitor with a resolution of 1024 x 768 or greater so a photo no larger than 1024 pixels wide should be comfortably viewed by most people and should be large enough to see important details. There are monitors that can display photos over 2000 pixels wide but most people do not have such a monitor so it is best to not upload a photo that wide. Just because there is no size limit on how large of a file we can upload doesn't mean we shouldn't care. These files take up space somewhere and someone is paying for it. Now what you should do before you upload a photo is resize it to an apropriate size using an image manipulation program such as Photoshop, Gimp, or Microsoft Paint.

NOTE: If you plan on entering your photo in one of the competitions (http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquariumforum/forumdisplay.php?f=12) it is required that your photo be 800 pixels wide as stated in the competition rules (http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquariumforum/showthread.php?t=41081).
