They're been keeping my corys in hiding so I decided to move the loaches out. My totally packed- with- plants tank had about 3 stems left in the substrate by the time I had caught the last loach.

Another tank redo! "sigh"

A tank re-do isn't always a bad thing ;-)

On the other hand i know what a pain it can be to get small and/or fast fish out of a tank.

Good luck!

Sorry for the luck! Bottom feeders are the worst to catch

at least you have a blank canvas to work with though!thumbs2:

Worse comes to worse, you can buy a net thats pretty much the width of the tank, take off the top and chase them from one side of the tank into the net

My net is 8 inches! Still couldn't catch them.

Use a section of 2" pvc, when they go in cover both ends and lift them out:hmm3grin2orange:

For small, fast fish I prefer to use a collection cup or some other long, rectangular device.

mine "go to bed at sundown", they would be fairly easy to trap then

I do that in the other tank, Algenco, but it didn't work in this planted tank. Too many plants!

I go for homemade minnow traps when removing fish, you can make em from a lot of stuff, and it's fairly low stress on the fish i think. But ya, netting those fast fish can really be a pain and ripping your whole tank apart to catch that last 1 or 2 is never fun.

I hate trying to catch Loaches out of a planted tank. It is a pain in the but.

For me the way I set my tanks up with Loaches is to have it in a way so that the rocks make canyons, and ones with blind corners for the fish but not for me. And the loaches get chased out, and smack right into the net with another net behind them incase they turn.

Works 100%. Just a bit hard with plants.

Sorry you had to mess your tank up Hobbs.
