I found this really cool clay pot in the garage that was made for filling with chicken feed, and it has little cup-like things that stick out where they can feed from. The only problem is it that my tank is not deep enough to accomadate it. I would like to break it in half as perfect as possible, but i dont know how to go about this. Any suggestions?

The only thing I can think of is a wet saw that's used to cut ceramic tile. I had used a ceramic hole saw to cut holes in my clay pots and it worked out fine.

You could try a die grinder with a cutting wheel on it. Or a dremel tool with a cutting wheel on it. Something that spins super fast, I bet that would do the trick. Or maybe try to score a line around where you want it cut an try breaking it an hope it stops at the score line. That's all the advice I've got.

Well, crap. I went out and scored fairly deep with a tungsten carbide cutting bit, the i gave it a gentle tap with a ball peen hammer, and it exploded. Peices everywhere. Dang, it was cool looking too. oh well.

Its a terra cotta chicken feeder. I somehow doubt that its worth more than 5 bucks. lol. Id be kicking myself if it was worth a fortune though!

just put it back together to the size you want now!:ezpi_wink1: it'll make your tank that much more customized.

When you score and cut something like clay you have to clamp down on the area you are going to strike to avoid shattering the thing. I know via trial and error! I wonder if it broke apart in large enough pieces that you could silicone them back together? Clay is hard to modify.

To late. I bashed the hell out of it when it exploded, and now its in 1,000,000 peices in the trash.

i always break the pots with a hammer or drop them on the concrete. To make more caves and stuff to hide in,
