View Full Version : is this tank good or a male betta?

i have a 2.5 minibow,the gravel and tank has been used but i washed it off.I started a fish less cycle 7-23-09.Im using spring water with water conditioner and aquarium salt.I tested the ph and (well my ph tester goes from 6.0 to 7.6) the ph was 7.6 .I also need tips on fish less cycling and bettas.And LOTS of names.:fish:

It's ok for a betta, yes - you might want to look into a filter and a heater

yes i have a filter but no heater,i have it in the warmest room in the house.

You dont really need to cycle a betta bowl, at least I know people that dont. Some on here would recommend it but its not super duper necessary

You can bring a sample of your water to any fish pet store to get all the tests on it.

I've been keeping a betta for almost 3 weeks now in 7.8pH, 150ppm hardness water, with no heater. Even with the nitrite going off the charts with 2 water changes a day (this is with a real small 1 gallon) she seems perfectly happy. She had some gill damage a week ago but used some Bettafix, not sure it was even needed, and she's fine now. I do probably feed her too much eheh.

Your pH is probably not going to be a problem, just do alot of water changes for the first month or so, gl.
