Guess what? I have a water softner system. I know it's stupid, but I didn't know it. My dear hubby finally mentioned it, after hearing me complain about the ammonia. What took him so long....one can only wonder!

Anywho....He put a new filter and re-cycled it last night. I ran it for a while to get all the air out, and tested it this morning. NO AMMONIA!!!
I'm doing the happy dance over that.
So I need to test the tap water before I do my changes from now on. Not that I don't trust him to keep on top of it (**wink***wink) but I need peace of mind.

On the sad side, I lost another angel and my baby honey gourami. I guess they just couldn't recover from the damage.
I have 2 angels and 3 albino corys left, and am hoping the other two make it.

Awesome! A little bit off topic, but if you ever decide to get live plants, you can't use the softened water (I'm assuming you are using salt softeners)

I didn't know that. I don't plan on real plants any time soon anyway. It's hard enough right now getting this right! But thanks for the heads up.

What a putts your hubby is! That's exactly what I said! :)

I think if you go back several posts on this issue, you will see that I previously mentioned "if you already have a softener, you may need to add salt". LOL
