A live or silk plant in the spawning tank is essential for the female to hide in for protection from the male.

Some males will build their bubble nests under the leaf of a plant, like a java fern.

Java moss is great for the fry, they can nibble on the micro-organisms produced, and will hide in it.

If problems like this occur, you can always seperate the pair. This project if not a race against time!

I do not beleive a male a female beta are to be in the same tank until she is ready to drop her eggs. The tanks should be side by side to get them started . Here is a link with some info.
