Itch in My Tank

I just looked at my Tiger Barb an he has white dots all over him. What do I do?

Raise temps to 80
Add 1 tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons of water

Buy some ich medication asap

Treat according to dosage for 10 days (7 days MINIMUM, no matter what the label says)

No I have only 1 Tiger Barb, then 4 Platy's, 2 Molly's an 2 tiny tiny Cory Cats. Will the Medication effect the other fish, an will Wal-Mart carry it? That's all that's open right now.

Oh, and about a week ago I did add saltwater. I did do one water change since, so salt or no salt?

They may but I doubt it. You can't use salt with cory cats, so if you don't have another place to put them in then just don't use salt and wait for the ich meds. Go with 1/3 - 1/2 dosage to be safe (cories are susceptible to ich meds if I recall) - someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok, thank you very much for the help. He's looking pretty out of it, I don't think he'll make it through the night. But I just don't want the others to get infected.

Quarantine him asap then. Those white cysts fall out and out pop hundreds of new parasites. If you have any anti-bacterial meds like Melafix or Pimafix, then use it to prevent secondary infections.

I got some Ick Med's at Wal-Mart (new wal-mart thread to come shortly). But as far as quarantining him, I don't have anywhere to put him. As bad as this sounds, would it be worth it to give him a porcelain burial in order to save the other fish??
