Hello there! Very pleased to join u in this amazing site! I'm from Costa Rica, I always have had cichlids, but african cichlids. Yesterday (03/18/07) I bought an Oscar, a Tiger O, and I made the buy for simply charity... The Tiger O has like 5 inches long and like 6 months old. As I bought it for charity I had to improvise the tank for it, so I used a 12 gallon tank for now. I know and I am concerned about the tank size vs Tiger O's size, so my question is: How much time do I have to buy a bigger (MUCH Bigger tank: 40-100 gallon?) tank until the Tiger O grows to much!? I know is unhuman to place this gorgeus fish in such a small tank, but as I said, it was for charity, the poor Oscar was dying in a 5 gallon tank, he can't even move around. I think it is better in a 12gall for NOW... I don't know if you got my idea? And I'd be flattered if you understood me and can help me, I'm doing this for an amazing animal that I admire so much... So let me know how much time do I have, aproximately obviosly! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Greetings

Hes already unfit to be in a 12 gallon tank. And he will need atleast a 55 gallon tank.

55-75 asap. May want to grab a big rubbermaid or something just to get him in a bigger enclosure sooner if you can't afford the big tank quite yet. He is already way too big for that tank.

I agree with the above posts. I wouldn't wait at all to get him a bigger tank. If you keep him by himself, a 55 will do, but a 75 is even better.
