Got myself the first Oscar of my neverending hobby, right now is a 1" albino in a 10 gallon aquarium .
Before you guys gangbang me lol I am going today to walkmart (getting the 55gallon aquarium it includes filter hood etc). However I've been researching a bit more and would like some help from the members here
What kind of gravel would be good and look awesome for an albino??
Do you recommend a penguin 300 filter for the (1) Oscar that will be living there??
Could I try for (2) oscars in a 55 gallon or thats a nono?
I want to provide him with the best quality of health possible, thanks again.
My oscar is right now sulking behind the filter :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Conrats and Welcome to the Fabulous AC!
I do suggest yuou look for a 75 for new freind! A 55 is barely big enough! In a year that fish will be 10" long and still growing fast! Your 55 is only 12: front to back and a 75 is 18". Thats a big difference!
Try and find a used 75 or 100gal.tank. That way you can add the other oscar and a pleco!.Good luck!
There are a lot of good used deals out there! Double up on filtration.

I really like black substrate. With a bunch of drift wood and some plants (if your oscar allows) looks so good in my opinion.

Mine as an example.
I can't suggest much for filters, I have a fluval 404 and a 20g sump which does a majority of my filtration. But what I suggest is go over to oscarfish.com, in this section [Only Registered Users Can See Links.] they have everybodies personal reviews on hang on back filters and canisters.
Going though that will give you a good idea of what to get.

I would say get a natural colored substrate. The way they crap you will be wanting to vacuum daily just to have a clean looking tank.
Try and find the bigger tank first. You will have less trouble with your fish getting along. You will want to add other fish!lol
Bigger tanks are soooooooo much easier to cycle too!I have my O's in a 6ft tank now and it looks to be the right size! lol Its a 135. I am having a really hard time adding another fish to the tank because they have grown up together with a pleco. Thats why its easier to start with the right size tank!
Good luck!thumbs2:

It would work if you got the O's young enough.
You would need some serious filtration though and really good water change schedule.

Absolutely.
Yeah two o's and a pleco in a 110 wouldn't be bad if you go about it Like NG said, and you will want a good filtration system.
You could get a good canister filter, or a couple HOB filters and slowely build your self a sump tank over the next couple months while they grow.
Sump tanks are by far the best for filtration due to how much bio media and mechanical filters you can cram in them. Not to mention the additional water capacity to lean out your tanks bio load.

Two oscars and a pleco in a 110? Go for it! I would recommend either dark colored substrate to help your oscar really stand out, or natural colored substrate to make the poo he sends out less noticeable. I would recommend a canister filter early on, because if you get two oscars and a pleco, all of those are poop machines. An fx5 or a 405 and a good HOB filter would do good for your tank. Welcome to the oscar club! thumbs2:

From what it sounds like, he will be! Good choice on the fx5, I think you'll find it very effective, as well as the AC!

Great job getting the bigger tank... an fx5 and AC110 is more than enough filtration for even big messy oscars. IMO, I like the natural colored gravel... sounds like you're going to have a sweet setup! Good luck! thumbs2:

Yep, then he will start to attack the glass when someone he doesn't like enters the room haha
Glad to hear you got all these things. You deserve an award for adopting an oscar properly! You're going to have a really happy healthy river dog!
