You sure that's a kenyi? Females are blue with black bars and males are yellow with brown bars that later turn just all yellow. Unless it's a male that didn't show it's male color until it got good size. Both male and female can look alike (blue with black bars) when young. Did your fish use to have black bars? It's a gorgous fish, I'm just not sure it's a kenyi.

It could just be having an odd transformation. The bars a usually a little more pronounced than that even during the switch. And from the pic it does look to be a pretty hefty size to be going throught the transformation. Looks a little bit like M. aurora also , do you have any more pics?
