I got my first koi today. Walmart had one that I couldn't resist. I noticed that there is a real lack of knowlege from bothe the people who sell fish, and the ones that buy them. Is there a course that I could take to be able to offer a trouble shooting service for aquarium and pond owners? It would be something like a vet for fish.

What size tank do you have, or are you putting him in a pond?

I have him in my 25 gallon tank. I am trading in 12 rosie red minnows to get a second koi. I will be putting them into some kind of pond when the snow melts and the ground thaws.

I noticed you are from Canada. Just out of curiosity, what do you plan to do with them when winter hits?

They are already too big for the 25 gal. What's the temp outside now?

Why would they be too big? They won't be going outside for another month yet. In the winter I will keep them in a large tank indoors.

How big is it? How do we know it is already too big?
Will that big indoor tank be big enough for it when it is 2-3'?

The koi are only 3" long. My calico fantail goldfish are bigger...lol. I hope to be able to offer a fish storage service to help promote ponds in my area. I have 1200 square feet of heated shop. I can build tanks any size I need. It would be better than the small tanks, cattle troughs, and other small containers that people use now.
