Hello everybody,
Im Dave, from maryland. Im kind of new to fish keeping, but my dad knows a good amount. That being said, he just bought a 150 gallon, and he gave me his old 55 gallon that im going to make a freswater tank. Cleaning starts tomorrow after rugby thumbs2: . So im basically just going to look around for some tips, advice, and hopefully everything will go great!

Im lookin forward to seeing alot of awesome pictures of some tanks you guys have!

By any chance do you also play football. I assume with a user name like hockeyrat that you play hockey. Just wondered if you hit the triumvirate of violent sports(football hockey and Rugby). oh how I wish that they offered Rugby in Ohio sports.

Haha i played football in 6th grade. I know i was young, but it was just boring! So yeah i got hockey and rugby under my belt. I suggest you find a club at least for rugby, greatest sport known to man!

I can see how football would be a little boring after rugby and hockey which have a lot fewer breaks. I think that my wife would kill me though if i joined a rugby club. Of course for some strange reason she is fine with me going sky diving. I don't understand it myself, but I cannot complain.

I was just glad to have another meat head on the AC. I played Football, basketball, track and soccer myself.

[Only Registered Users Can See Links.] That my friend, is rugby. Some dirty tackles but yeah. Most say its football without pads, it really is nothing like football. To give you an idea though, we dont wear pads, there are positions named hooker, flanker, and fly half, and there are no substitutions each 40 minute half. Sounds like fun right? haha

Hockeyrat96, a 55 gallon will make a wonderful first aquarium.
Take your time setting it up and allow it to cycle. You may want to check out the latest equipment, i.e. filters and such.
As things have changed since your Father started keeping fish. Good luck and welcome to the Aquatic Community!
