hey folks--
Been a little busy lately in the yard(been reading but not posting much--too tired), but all our fishy friends are happy. The mbuna are growin and the 65 community is doing well, but things are gettin a little aggressive in there. I'm not sure if it's the buenos aires tetras or the rainbows, but i may end up pulling one(or both) schools. Anyway, the wife and i were in walmart the other day(first time in a year or more) and we happened to stroll into the fish section. No, this isn't another horror story.

The tanks were clean, though not spotless(iow they hadn't just been cleaned, but are well maintained). No floaters, ich, or fin rot. They had the usual assortment of fish there, and some spotted puffers. Now, my wife's favorite fish in the WHOLE WORLD are puffers(the mbuna tank is hers)--my wife tends to like the bully fish. You know how *some* women get when they see a new born baby or a puppy(all mushy and squeaky voiced)? That's how my wife gets with puffers. Now walmart had these puffers, and on the card they mentioned nothing about BW setups. I've been nosing around, and found this, among others:

It appears there are really 3 very different varieties of puffers that come under spotted, green, green spotted, etc common names. You can read the link, and see that depending on what critter they are(which apparently even confuses lfs people), their needs in terms of water salinity can vary greatly. Now, i don't care one way or the other what these guys need, I'll do it(did i mention my wife likes these fish?). I have no fear of a BW setup or even a simple SW FOWLS setup(i figure the puffers would prob eat live rock if i got it, so i'd stick with sand, plus the rock could tear their skin methinks). My boss is a reef guy, and i'd have all the support i needed. My question is this, which GSP do they carry? Has anyone here bought the walmart puffers? If so, based on my link above can you tell me what they are *specifically*(or post pics so we can see)? While thier needs won't determine if we get them, they may determine WHEN we get them. We are really busy now with house and yard stuff, and i do not have the time to setup a BW or SW tank, cycle it, level it, and then put critters in it. The mbuna tank is going to go from a 29 to a 55(buggers are growing like nuts) Which means the 29 will get freed up. Once that happens, i'd be more than open to making it a puffer tank with one of these guys in it. I've got all the basic stuff covered(hard water, canister filter, etc, etc) Really what i need to know is what species they are so I know what kind of tank design i have to do. If anyone can say which species walmart sells, I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks
