When do platy fry show sex characteristics?

At what size do male platy fry get a gonopodium? None of my platy fry have one so I was wondering are they all female or is it just that they have yet to grow them?

I have 6 fry and they are over 1/2' long and are really becoming recognisable as platys so I thought it was a bit strange that none of them have gonopodiums. Do platy normally give birth to many more female than males?

Kidding. Look at the anal fins, usually the juvenile females will start to flare out a bit, while the males remain clamped to it's anus / belly. Other than that I don't think you can tell before around 2-3 months.

I've got some Platy fry that are just over a month old and all of them still look like females. I definitely agree with WetPets.

if they all look female, they might just all be female. ive had all one gender births before.
