so there was already a thread started on the fight between the WWE has been and Frank Mir. What do you guys think about the more intriguing matchup (in my opinion) between George St, Pierre and Thiago Alves?
i have a general dislike for all things Canadian, (i am kidding!!!!), but i love GSP, in this matchup, (and any short of one against Anderson Silva). alot has been out of how big thiago is, but George train with a couple of guys who are pretty darn big compared to George. lets see: David Louiseau (sp?), who once missed weight at 185; the former light heavyweight champ in Rashad Evans; and Patrick Cote, who has also fought up to light heavy weight. i think this is the one fight where Gsp might not be the better striker...but his is still the better MMA fighter. Gsp outwrestled Matt Hughes (twice), and own two BJJ black belts on the ground (Matt Serra and B.J. Penn), and is rumored to out-wrestle the previously mentioned Rashad Evans, and the Canadian Olympic wrestling team. i really dont see Thiago being a pro'lem on the ground.
Thiago is an awesome striker. maybe the best of anyone not name Silva. but the i think the rest of his game is just good enough to keep the fight on the feet where Thiago wants to be. Does he have the gas to go five rounds? GSP has only been taken past three rounds twice, once against Jon Fitch, (who refused to go down) and once into the fourth against B.J. Penn, (GSP looked mre than capable of going a 5th). i admit that i havent been a fan since he popped positive, but he has been on a tear recently. but i think his wrestling and BJJ are not good enough to keep him from getting ground and pounded to a TKO loss inside of 4 rounds.

So do I! lol I want to see Griffin and GSP go for it!
Gsp can scrap though! Its been proven! I know so has Griffin!(he is one of my favorites!)
How is he full of himself? If you are a fighter there is no room for doubt. If you have any doubts going into a fight you've lost before before the first bell!

True, no fight was ever won without confidence, in the ring or in the schoolyard.

I just dont like fighters that run their mouths a lot. Generally its not a sign of confidence anyway, or at least not IMEs

In the Gracy vs Hughes debate im a Hughes fan, I just like the more sportsmanly, "i know i can, so why say it" attitude a lot more.

for a while GSP didnt talk trash, and tried to be nice to everyone (before the second matt hughes fight was announced GSP was reported to have actually tried to be friends with matt). but then he got tired of being trashed, and started lashing back. so far though i still have noticed him throwing the first verbal jab. he always speaks second. and then beats the crap out of the other guy!!!

on a slightly different note, i did hear one of the greates lines ever...period. GSP went back to his corner and told them he pulled his groin. his corner replied: "I dont care, you are a champion...Hit him with your groin! Put him away!" i laughed at that all night!

The Bisbing/Henderson fight was the best one of the evening by far. That alone was worth the price of the ppv.

Agreed! pay per view is robbery!!!

However, I can see myself paying for a ufc fight long before Id pay to see a boxing match or wrestling :hmm3grin2orange:

Take half that money, find a local watering hole with satellite, and enjoy. All the bars around here show the PPVs.
