I want to try something on my new 10g. Since its just a betta, 8 white clouds, and 3 tetras, and ghost shrimp and a flying fox, i want to install my UGF that i originally wanted to use for my Salt tank. I would be using the UGf with a couple of powerheads and the whisper log filter. Any real downside?

idk if it's me or not but that seems to be over the max for that tank. i guess if filtration is good enough you may be ok. are you going to put any live plants in it? that may help you out some.

its going to be more planted.

Ive got 2 potted plants right now, but in a week im going to Seattle for wal-mart for 5 days, and am going to get a better light and powerheads. Should work as i want the tank to be heavily planted.

i really don't see much of a problem then. the plants will really help you.
but, i'm also not the most experienced person here either.

We considered an UGF, but decided against it as it had been suggested that the plant roots could lead to clogging of the filter. Not sure how much truth their is to this, but it's something to consider.

i just tend to buy already potted plants, so roots arent a problem.
