Please read my original post in this thread first - click here. (http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquariumforum/showthread.php?t=46525) You can see orig pics of the fish (Abby) that I'm talking about here.
All right, I've got more questions! HELP!!!
So today was day 5 of Maracyn treatment. I put the meds in about 3:00 this afternoon (ET) so almost 12 hours ago. The spot on top near her eye is totally gone, but the spot on her bottom lip looks like the pic I've attached. I just took that pic a few minutes ago. Sorry its blurry, but you can see the spot really well. It looks like a zit, truly.
So NOW what do I do?!? This spot is virtually unchanged. I've been treating with Melafix, Pimafix AND Maracyn and here we still are. There are 11 other fish in this tank who are perfectly healthy but are having to deal with meds.
I'm half crazy wondering what to do. I read an article about Lymphocystis (sp?). Could that be what I'm dealing with now? Could that have happened as a result of all the other doo doo that's been going on? This is the article I read - http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/disease/lymphocystis.php
My husband and I have been discussing options here and we are truly at a loss as to what to do. What if this is just that Lympho stuff? Then it will likely go away on its own, right? But what if its not? If we discontinue treatment we could then be risking re-infecting this entire tank.
We talked about doing some major rearranging. The Gourami and Angel as well as 2 Otos and the Cory listed in my qt tank in my sig are destined for this tank (I've moved one of the Gouramis to my 29g - she was getting aggressive but has settled down now). So we were talking about maybe taking ALL the fish out of the qt tank, doing a MAJOR w/c on the 45 to remove as much of the meds as possible and putting the Gouramis, Otos, Cory and Angel in there and moving Abby to the qt tank to continue treatment in there. BUT!!! She seems pretty sensitive to stress. When we moved her to a bowl while we took all the decor out of the tank when we started the big treatment, the next morning she had cloudy eye on her other eye (both eyes are clear now). When she moved back to the bowl a week later while we put everything back in the tank - the next morning she had these two white spots. I'm afraid moving her to the qt might cause more trouble, but I also don't want to continue medicating fish that don't need it.
WHAT do I do here? Should I continue treatment? Should I move Abby to the qt? Should I give it a couple days and see if the spot improves? I've GOT to do a w/c on this tank in the morning to control ammonia levels since my cycle is starting all over. The qt is at least cycled.
Ammonia, btw is 0.5. I haven't tested -trites or -trates today. They were 0 on the third day of Maracyn treatment. But see, that's more of a problem. If the ammonia is rising, then I've GOT to do changes - but doing changes reduces the amount of meds in the water. AARRGGHH!!! Anyway, the ammonia was .25 on day 3 of treatment so I figure -trites are negligible, if there at all. This tank is truly beginning to cycle again so - it hasn't really been long enough (just a week) to get into the nitrite phase yet. If I move Abby out, at least I can get things under control in here as far as cycling and then just re-cycle the qt later on once she's over all this, but the stress... See? I keep going in circles with this in my mind and I'm really driving myself up a wall.
You guys have got to help me before I go insane. I want this tank healthy, and I believe it is except for this one lady who insists on causing drama.
