One of my mollies has a strange looking mouth? It looks like it is separating from the rest of the body (sounds strange I know). When I compare it to the other molly, there is a definite protrusion of the lips/mouth. Any thoughts?

There you go. How long have you noticed this for? With livebearers, there is often a lot of inbreeding which causes genetic defects.

okay that did not work, I attached it instead... someone told me this is probably cotton mouth and I need to go and get some kind of fungus stuff??

okay so it did work. I noticed yesterday that one side of her mouth was strange, today it 's the whole thing.

Also, I asked about the color a few days ago, that iridescent stuff on her back and was told to just watch it. Should I be treating her? I know mollies do better in salt. Would this help them, and what about the other fish??

okay, so I can't go out to get anything now... would a salt bath help? Is the morning to late to treat it? Should I put it into the tank with my fry, I have a divider...

Okay, I am really hearing you, but I don't have another tank. So which is at greater risk, the fry or the other fish in my main tank? I have survived almost a week without losing any fry and I was getting excited about that...

REALLY a last resort, but do you have a empty and CLEAN old bucket or rubber container you could temporarily house him in with a heater and filter?

bucket and filter, yes... heater... no. It is a colder night than we have had, so I would not want to do without the heater. I really would run out to WalMart tonight, except that I am home alone with my 1-yr old. Do you think I could wait 'til morning? I did the salt bath after consulting one of my books thinking this might help until I could do better...

Cocoa - thanks for your help. I noticed you are having a hard time of your own with your krib. I hope that all works out. I will cross my fingers that my salt bath works until morning, then visit WalMart and see what more I can do...
