I am 'remodeling' my 90g to run smoother (less fish feasts and such) around my two juvenile blood parrot cichlids. So far, I know I am going to keep them and eventually get a medium sized school of tiger barbs.

First, how many tiger barbs would be a good number for my 90g? someone suggested 10-15 but that seems kind of small.. I'm not sure.

Also, what is another medium sized fish that can go with the bps and tigers? I've seen bolivian rams with the bp's but I'm not sure if that's just a rare case or if the tiger's would nip at them. So, any suggestions?

Thanks everyone!!!:22:

Hey,

I would got with more 20 or so Tigers. As for other fish to go with them, how about some Fire Mouths. I find they look after them selves quite well. And they are a fair size.

That is fine. Other things would be other medium size Cichlids.
Good luck,

How big is a medium sized cichlid? That way I know exaclty what to look for.

how about some rainbows? They're fun, active schooling fish.

hmm.. maybe. I like the colors but I was sort of looking for another 'main' fish since I'll have the tiger school.

:hmm3grin2orange: Oh yeah, the tigers.

If you want something a little more exotic, maybe a black ghost knife.

An arowana would be a nice addition to your tank. I'd get one of those.

Oh, I love TigerBarbs! So adorable XD
As long as you don't mix with slow-moving fish or fish with long flowing fins, they should be fine!

I have never kept Blood Parrots, so IMO, I have no idea whether they are slow-moving or not - you should be able to decide on that ;) But according to photos of them, their fins look short and not-at-all flowy.
They should be fine IMO.

I'd say maybe a shoal of 20-25..

How about a pair of kribs ? I have no experience, but I have heards of people with them with Tigers/Bloods.

Goodluck! Look at this site:

If you are wanting more of a sedentary type of fish which is fairly large like the BPs then what about some type of South American Cichlid?

There are plenty of types. Just one thing I guess this tank has no live plants? Well I know BPs can be a pain with live plants. Anyway if no live plants, and you got a nice substrate what about not getting the Tiger Barbs but get a pair of Earth Eaters, and then a school of large Tetras like the Buenos Aries Tetras or something like that?

Then a school of 2-3 Hoplo catfish?

As for the Arowanna, that has to be a joke. It would out grow the tank like a shot.:22:

mac[/quote]That wasn't a joke. I've seen an arowanna in a 55g, and it lived to be 21 years old.

Then poor fish. That is cruel to the poor fish. Must have been in a lot of pain, since it was not able to grow. Terrible.
