A pair of fish I have I was told and were labled at my LFS as Gabalema Hap. " Orange Hunter "

Are infact a lot rarer than even those.

After some extensive searching I have found them to be.:-

Lipochromis sp. "Matumbi Hunter"
The Matumbi Hunter

They only have between 8 - 15 fry.

From what I have read I need to get an egg tumbler as the female won't hold her eggs for more than 3 days.

But it will be worth it for such a rare fish to the hobby. thumbs2:

If I can get them to breed any fry are worth between £10 & £15 each.

Adults sell at £35.
I didn't pay 1/2 that for them, I think I can call that a score thumbs2:

It is these fish.

I phoned the LFS to tell them. There gutted :hmm3grin2orange:

I was looking up orange hunter and the pics I have seen of them looked nothing like these. Body shape and colour was just all wrong.
I just kept looking and looking and today I found out.
I have had these guys in my tank now for over 2 months and it has taken me this long to get the real ID on them.

Thanks guys.:ssmile:

Sweet deal, though I wouldn't have told the folks at the lfs on the off chance they might make the same mistake again...
Good luck breeding them. If the females are touchy and broods are small it's no wonder they're rare fish.

I have a good relationship with my LFS.

If there fish are labled wrong and I find out I tell them.

There are no more of these fish in stock and there were only 2 males and a female shipped in. I got the pair so I count myself very lucky.:ssmile:
