i have a 5.5 gallon planted tank with 4 neon tetras. i have a large piece of mopani wood in there. i want to add a snail to clean up the extra food and take care of some of the algae. i was thinking about a mystery snail since theyre pretty readily available.
i know that snails like calcium for their shells. im pretty sure i have some limestone that i can chip off a small piece to put in the tank. would a small piece raise the ph much. right now im at about 7.2. are there other ways to get them calcium that might work better?

Cuttlebone works well, should be able to find it in any petshop too. Won't affect the water ph either, it dissolves way too slowly for that. I know some that use it for their shrimp tanks as well.

Other people have said that you can blend in calcium powder into their food like with algae waffers. You can also feed them greens high in calcium like kale.

Here is a great write up by WT you might want to read.
