What plants can be used with malawi ciclids, auratus and red and blue zebs. i would like something to assis t with the bio load .

ty are they easy to keep or difficult. do they have specific requirement. im using a standard fluor strip on the tank. if you recommend a bulb change. which woudl you use. thanks

Your best bet will be mosses or ferns, some may get eaten though.

is java moss acceptable it seems to be the most readily available... java moss java fern... should i attach it to the lava rock the mbuna are using as caves or do something seperate with it.

It doesn't matter as long as it's tied down to something. Anubias (might not be spelled right) is a tougher plant that might do better (suppose to taste bad too). I've never had any luck keeping plants with mbuna. If they didn't eat them, they at least tore them up. I've heard the "secret" to keeping them is, have lots and lots of plants and start the fish out young with them. If you don't start the fish out young with them you might have lots and lots of money down the drain.

I've had success with a Malawi planted tank. They've been in planted aquariums since they were young so that probably helped. I've got Hornwort, anacharis, anubias, some type of crypt and a hygro. The only plant that isn't doing well is the hygro but its due to no c02 supplementation.
