New to fish keeping and exploring some potential tank set-ups:

I need a recommendation for a fish(s), that can be kept at adult size in a 36x12x18 30 gallon that will eat small fish like thin 1"ers as part of his diet. I'm thinking would be some medium sized but less active cichlid? And he should get along with tiger barbs and 4-6" pleco.

Are fish-eating fish possible for a 30 gal?

The tiger barbs will certainly eat 1" feeders when they get big. They'll eat them when they're small too, if you have a large enough school. My 10 tigers are a formidable pack and will tear small feeders and shrimp to bits like a school of pirhanas.

A small cichlid might be your best bet for a single fish. Or an african leaf fish. Those are pretty cool, they just "drift" along like a leaf and stalk their prey.

Ah awesome, didn't know tiger barbs would do more than kill.
