I need a little help... I have read the stickies and did some more research. Now I need some advice. I have a 55gl which is pretty well stocked with tetras and danios, but the scaleless fish two iradescent sharks and three botia angelicus loaches. (sorry if misspelled) These are the fish that are the most noticable. Ive did a water change and all parameters are great. I have medication, but I would like to try and raise the temp and add salt. In my research the loaches dont like the salt. If using this method, How quick should I raise the temp and how much salt should I add? Any other suggestions would be much appreciatied.

Use half dosage of salt for sensitive fish. Raise the temp not more than a few degrees each day to be safe

What are you planning on doing with those iridescents?

Thanks, Yea those sharks are starting to scare me on the size. One is almost at a guess 10 inches already. Luckily i have lfs that will take them. I do like them, so its been hard to part with them. Even though i think they ate my octo cat. He went missing about a month ago. Ive search the tank, filter and never did see him. Thanks for the advice again.

I don't use any salt since I have so many scaleless fish... vacuum your gravel every other day and water change same time. Half-dose the meds on the days in between. I only raise my temp to about 82-84. I have yet to lose a fish using this method.

I tried the adding salt and raising the water temp on my tank and I ended up pulling my hair out. I have 4 oto and an albino cory in my 29 gal and I used RID-ICH+ and never cut back on the dosage. I did 30% water changes daily with vaccumming and dosed accordingly for 7 days and then made a thorough inspection. Once I saw no ICH I then treated for 3 more days. ICH was gone and the fish did not seem stressed out as they did with the salt and temps. Just read any meds you get and they should tell you how to treat the tank if you have scaleless fish. Hope this helps!

i agree. Get the appropriate meds and you shouldn't have a proplem

The best option is ich meds for sensitive fish. Gotta go online usually though

I wouldnt use ich meds in lower doses or for catfish or loaches at all. But thats me, as the above posts indicate it doesnt mean death or super ich necessarily.

Ich-Attack is safe for sensitive fish. I used it at 1.5 the dose and my corys never showed any signs of stress.
