female ps acei and male m. auratus... hes guarding that hole like an ol momma hen... i know there are eggs in there

I'm confused, what hole is the male guarding? Mbuna are mouthbrooders, not substrtae spawners.

He's probably claiming the hole as HIS hole (not uncommon, they like their own territory). He might be making a nest for breeding too. If that's the case and you don't have enough female auratus for him, trouble will no doubt start (perhaps some deaths). 4 african cichlids in a 75g. is way understocked and should be a happier tank with more "friends". I'd do the homework before adding more though to see what is compatible. If you want one of this species and one of that, it's better to do all male. If you want babies from them, it's best to do breeding groups with 3-4 females per male of the same species. In a 75g.,breeding groups of 3-4 species would be good.
