quick question i do a 25% water change once a week. i take out the water by vacuumming it out. is it ok to vacumme once a week or should i still do my normal waterchanges without disturbing the substraite as often.

My water changes are done when I vacumm the substrate so you could probably do either way. I do the gravel because I have to feed bottom feeders so left over food usually ends up down there.
same here. my ray makes quite a mess so I vacuum for my changes.

If your tank is well established and you have messy fish then vacuum weekly and make your water changes at least 40%!:22:

Agreed. I would omit "messy."
