While I was on my fishing trip last week I had the chance to tangle (no pun intended) with a few nice longnose on my fly rod. The fish in the below photos was a 37" spawning female. I managed to boat 3 or 4 of them from 30-37 inches and missed a few...including a near 48 incher. They were all taken on a hookless fly. Hope you all enjoy the pics!

Hookless fly? I go barbless on my flies, but haven't tried fishing without a hook yet.

This method only works on gars to my knowledge. The fly is made of frayed nylon string. The gar grabs it then gets it tangled in its teeth and cant let go. They are a total pain in the butt to release, but you just need some patience and a pair of scissors (to make sure all excess material is cut away from the gars snout).

You have some nice ones! I tried bowfishing for some, but couldn't find any, only carp. Like the method you fish with!
