not sure where to post this. i just recieved 48 malawi cichlids from "live fish direct" , let me say this outfit knows how to do this. they had fish on my doorstep in new york at 10am and the store is in utah. the fish that arrived make the fish i see in LFS pitiful. they carry some non cichlids and nw cichlids but african cichlids ARE their specialty!
if you want african cichlids, this is the place to go.thumbs2:

I have a few yellow tail acei from there. I can always tell the difference between them and the few I got from other sources. What types did you order?

hey not old not new, watch out for those auratus. my brother-in-law grabbed 12 "assorted africans" put them in a 72gal bowfront with insufficient hiding spots and the biggest auratus killed first the other auratus then the other africans one by one within a year-all were gone except the 1 auratus.

Ive been told from very reliable people the textilus livefishdirect are selling are really M. joanjohnsonae:scry: . Thats actually why I asked you what fish you purchased. Please post pics , maybe we can find out for sure. For the most part they do have beautiful fish. The P. Acei and L. caeruleus LFD sells are stunning.

LOL mine too rangur. as soon as i approach the tank they scatter behind the rocks and in them. unlesssssss i open the lid and then they all start coming to the surface for feeding time. LOL as for the store its AQUA HUT in coram. Great owner great sales staff knowledgable and they know when to say they dont know and not BS you. i was very impressed with the people and the pricing. They has a lot of stuff. as for the pricing for example here in queens a 1 inch juvenile clown loach is 9.99, they were sellinng 4 for 10 beautiful fish all shoaling all very active schooling just what you expect to see. and not just 2-5 fish there had to be 20-30 juvis in htis tank. great displays great prices on chems and filters. its worth the 3 gals of gas and the hour trip(one way from my house) if im gonna be purchasing some quantity of supplies. probably even better on some things than online. ANyway ill work on pics of my two tank setups this weekend and hopefully get them up for all.
Goodluck rangur and would love to see your tank as well

Cool stuff, I live right down the street from "live fish direct" and also known as tropical fish wholesale. They are african cichlid paradise! Each week they put one fish on sale for 99 cents......such a good deal.....I've never ordered from them, just go myself to the store, but they are real nice folk! Good luck with those fish!

i have gone back to live fish direct , now they list the lab textilus as melanochromis joanjohnsae.
the look great--i just hope they are not as tempermental as regular melanchromis.

I live about two hours away from that store, but have yet to visit it. My brother and I keep trying, but things seem to go awry. I plan on picking up some of their pseudotropheus demasoni as soon as I get my 75 up and running. Thanks for the review, I'm glad to hear it's a good store thumbs2:

From my experience they are pretty aggressive towards each other, but more
laid back with tankmates of a different species compared to some of the more aggressive melanochromis types.
