I was planning on doing a Frontosa colony in a 72" 150 gallon. However, I am open to any suggestions since I am starting fresh. I am interested in fish larger than 5". The water here is naturally on the hard side with higher ph. So, what do you have to say?

Go with the frontosas! They're beautiful fish to keep a colony of. I highly recommend 'em...

d compressiceps
or nimbochromis livingstonii

see if any of these catch your fancy

Thanks for the suggestions all. I think I'm going to stick with the original deep water Frontosa setup.

community loach tank ;)
lol, I just traded some Clown Loaches in last week. The thought had crossed my mind though. The place I traded into had a 1 foot Clown but it was $99. A little too high for me.

Ya hard to find 'affordable' large loaches...the few deals I have found get snatched up instantly.
check out this thread though i posted linked to some beautiful loaches...red the thread someone commented with some amazing ideas for schooling fish to go with the loaches...sounds amazing to me ;)...when i finish building my large tank i will use my 125 to make the tank
heres a link to the thread [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]
Also I've found this place online to carry many of those loaches for VERY REASONABLE PRICES
[Only Registered Users Can See Links.]
They update their inventory list daily. They also sell stuff on aquabid [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]

Thanks for the links. Loaches just seem to have more personality than alot of the fish people keep. I forgot to mention I housed my Clowns with Yo-Yos. They got along fine but they didn't mix together often...except during feeding. :jumpeveryone:
