View Full Version : New koi and pic of big pond at the pond shop

I picked up a new japanese strain butterfly koi today.In the pond from above he appears black with white fins.I also snapped some shots of there big 3500 gal two level pond ,the koi in there are on avg 24" with a few in the 30s.These guys would actually let themselves be petted.I also picked up a parrots feather plant.Next Im off to "That fish place that pet place":ssmile:

very cool! i added 2 yellow butterfly koi two years ago to our pond. i put them in and they were about 8 inches. last year, i believe the second died, but the first is now about 18" and probly 4 lbs!!! he is my favorite.

Yes it is,mine will look more like it after this fall.I am going to lift the edges of the liner and blend the contour or the underlaying groundwork to get a more natural slope.In this way the liner will not be visible and will also be more durable due to none of it being exposed directly to sunlight or the sharp edges of ice.
i would never have that piece of wood like they do though.That is a perfect perch for a predator to set comfortably and wait.
