i wanted to put a fish tank in my spare bedroom but it is rare that anyone goes in there. do you think that it is unhealthy or inhumane to leave them in a room alone without any foot traffic in the room.
Wooo Hooo my 100th post.
Though no expert on piscine psychology, I'd say it depends on whether this would be a small school of fish (or an established community of fish) versus one betta-in-a-bowl type setup.
If there's enough stimulus - plant life, etc. then creatures should flourish in the proper environment regardless of human "attention" - aside from the obvious care/feeding/maintenance, of course.

yes they will be well cared for. i dont know anything about plants at all but i am very curious and im going to try to see if i can learn more about plants. as far as fish i dont have any plans on fish. the tank will be a 20L so i can put schooling fish in if it is recomended.
Keep your opinions comming i wanna know what everyone thinks thumbs2:

sounds like a great idea. Have at it. If you work hard you can make the tank look so nice it will add value to the room and THEN some people will want to go in it.

This is a 5gal tank? I don't know if you can put a school of fish in there...perfect size for a Betta, though, although I find, they do like company.:ssmile:

My Midas/RD ,Pat, lives in a 90g in my bedroom and doesn't get a lot of traffic except when me or my wife are going to bed, getting out of bed , getting dressed ,ect. We don't spend much time in there but he's never shy and doesn't seem to mind the solitude. As long as your OK with it I doubt the fish would care.

Umm you could just fit a school of fish in it. But they would be fish like Dwarf Rasboras. IMO I would find it a bit to small.
IMO a Betta would work in a very well planted theme.

Well a 50 gallon you could have a very nice mix of fish plants and hard scape.

Probably meant a 20G long tank.

A 20G long tank would be excellent for a nice planted community tank. With proper lighting and filtration you could have a bedroom showpiece. Might even make ya stay in the BR longer with the wifey and could lead to extra snuggle time! ;)

Yes a 20 galon longs are great tanks. You would have a nice choice of fish and plants along with themes to choose from.
Good luck.
Ohh and I get crostrophobic. So no snuggling for me.:hmm3grin2orange:
