Sandstone As An Aquarium Decoration?

I'm currently setting up a 25 gallon African Cichlid tank for my work office. I've been unable to find any slate for rock decorations and have come across severla pieces of sandstone. I've read on various internet sites that sandstone isn't advised as it naturally raises your pH. It seems like this is truly what I need for African Cichlids? Any thoughts?

Sandstone can be used in aquariums for cichlids from the great lakes and can as you say help you keep the pH high. Just don't forget to check the pH every now and then.
