What would be the ideal tank for a silver arrowana I have always wanted one and I am thinking of buying a tank just for him. And I will buy him as a juvi and raise him. Any thoughts on the tank and setup?

Final home should have a foot print no less than 8ft long and 30" wide...Arows in the tank can get up to 3ft, but can turn on a dime and are very slender flexible fish so you can get away with a 30" width on the tank. You could grow one out in a 180G tank for well over a year tho...and thats a 6ft*2ft foot print. When the fish got about 28-30" youd have to upgrade him tho as turning would be getting difficult.

Oh boy. Thats gonna be a pain finding the final tank. I might look around and see if I can find one and just grow him in the big tank. I dont want to buy to tanksXD GF will get mad because there will be no room for them :scry: Thanks for the info:)
Agreed, the standard 240 is a good choice. 125-130 is enough for about 1-2 years.

TruVu makes a 300G wide acrylic which I am definatly looking into for my own purposes for 1800 its 8ft*30" wide*2ft tall
Another option would be to just get the final size tank made. It then saves money and time looking for one.

If you wanna save money, go with a ply wood tank. For maybe about $100 you can build a 400g tank, and the pane of glass will vary depending on where you live.
