If you take a look in my signature you will see my current stocking of my 55g. I have a bristlenose pleco, a siamese algae eater (who eats no algae), 7 serpae tetras and 2 blood parrots. What are some different ideas you have as to what I should/could add to the tank other than more serpaes. It is moderate to heavily planted with also 2 pieces of driftwood and a rock cave. Any suggestions are welcomed.

You have room for a nice sized school of corys!

I think cories would be a great idea.
Agreed, also if you remove the serpeas, you could add congo or emporer tetras.

I have to agree. I think a school of corys would be nice in there. =]
man, I sure needed your saimese algae eater when I had a small tank filled with BBS. Couldn't find one anywhere

A pair of rams or apistos would work too.

What are your thoughts on one angelfish or 7 more serpaes? Would 7 be too many more?
would the serpaes be too nippy to an angel?
I like the ram idea. I saw some electric blues the other day that were amazing!

Your top-middle water is empty. I like the angel idea - get a few juvies.
BUT: get (if you can) a few rummy-nose tetra (WELL worth the wait if you can't find them - minimum 12X). Get as many as you can afford - They are the tightest-schooling danio I have encountered (in groups more than 8-10). and make a vivid, but peaceful addition to any community tank.

so you are saying I can get multiple angels? I hope you know what you are doing lol. I would love more than one.
I also like rummynose tetras. I don't think I would get both an angel and rummynoses. I think I'm at about 39 inches now which leaves me 16 or so.
Hmmm lots of thinking to do.

That is one thing. THese fish are great at eating BBS. But should never be bought just to eat it. And never not in a school.
thanks fisher.

IMO yes they would be a bit to nippy, or potently nippy towards the angel.

Yes Rummy Nose are great fish. But with Angels I would not try it.
They are a bit to torpedo shapes. And become snacks for the Angel.

Just a question are you using the 1 inch per gallon rule? IF so drop it. It is not a good rule to go by. All fish vary in requirements so it is not a good rule to use. BEcause you can't tare all fish with the same brush with requirements like the rule is doing.
As for fish to add. I am with the Corys. A school of 7 or more would be nice. Then IMO I would leave the tank alone.
Good luck,

i think the blood parrots would rip the angel to piecies, they seem to be the "odd" fish in this tank. surprised you haven't had trouble in this tank yet.

I like rummynoses + corys
They compliment each other well both in looks, different swimming levels, and the tetra have a calming effect on the corys which makes them more active and adventurous

Yeah, gregarious fish like danios tend to bring out the best in shyer specie - dither fish!

Well, not all the time. The maniacal behavior of some danios can stress shy fish and drive them further into hiding, and can also make feeding shy fish difficult because of the danios gluttonous feeding habits.

Well mine Angel is about 9 inches top to bottom. And anything that is not able to fight to survive is eaten, unless they are Corys or Bristle Nose.
Hence why I keep mine with Fire Mouths. My angel managed to ever kill a 4 inch Rainbow. Just to a chunk out of it's gill.
As for Angels IMO the are a temperamental fish. But with regards to keeping them with small fish like Tetras and Rasboras I would not try it. Unless say the Tetras were more the size of Diamonds or bigger. And the Rasboras were more the Clown Rasboras size.
