Recently I have picked up a pair of New guinea red rainbows (latin ?) from the LFS. I am curious at how difficult these fish are to breed, also if you have had any success, Im curious to water quality, pH, temp, etc.... Right now they are in 55 community , am soon starting to build a few smaller breeder tanks.

Hey,

I never bread these types. But the Kutubus are very similar to them. Mine breed all the time. Just a simple thing. Have a nice planted tank, with well established plants. Water temp of around 24-26'c. And a pH of around 6.8.

That all I do for mine. IMO and IME a stable tank, with established plants that is all you need.

Alright. My perimeters are very close to that. How long did it take for yours to breed? Mine have only been in the tank for a few weeks.

Mine started strait away. Just started spawning once they got use to the tank.
