The discus is still very shiy, hides whenever I get close etc. However he seems to be perfectly healthy. I have been trying to monitor him to see if he is eating but he never does when Im looking. It has been almost a month since I have gotten him and I figure he should have died by now of starvation if he hasnt been eating (i suppose).

I also dont see any signs of starvation, such as a sunken stomach or any diseases notable on his skin. Is he perhaps eating and Im not seeing anything? I hope this is the case.

I am sure he is eating. If you want to be sure stand away from the tank so he can not see you. Also try some blood worms see if he goes nuts:)

Also he may be like my old Angelfish who would only eat at night. I guess he was afraid of the light lol. He would scavenge off the bottom.

Is he growing?
What do you feed him?

Not a discus expert, but somebody said theirs won't resist guppy fry, sorry whoever said it that I can't think of you right now. 6 hours of sleep in 26 hours can do that to ya.

Hi CE,

I got 8 discus via a distributor. 4 x Pigeon Blood and 4 x Blue Turquoise.

I learned (after the fact) that:

1. Discus have a very comples social structure ( so much so that an entire genus will eat / be comfortable AFTER the dominent / healtheir fish. All my blues died - despite moving them to a 90L all of their own. They became immaciated)

2. Discus have a social structure with other fish in a community tank. Especially angels (more often than not P.scalare).

3. No matter how big they are, they will dominate a tank (but 'should' not bother specie smaller than them).

BACK TO SUBJECT: My 4 'blues' kept hiding in plants, shy, not eating in front of me and generally got thinnner. Knowing what I do now I, would rapidly move them... Mine did not make it. But subsequent deliveries are all Oki-Pokey.

[edit]: Like other discus, yours may be freaked by other specie(s).
