Polyurethane curing time

Does anyone know how long I should let polyurethane varnish cure before it is totally inert and safe? After researching I have read anywhere from 3 to 30 days. Does anyone have first hand experience with it in their aquariums?

A good test is when it stops smelling. I used polyurethane on my tank stand and it took over a month to stop smelling.

Yes, I dipped some bamboo sticks in polyurethane to delay rotting and plan on using them inside my tank.

then you definitely want to wait a while to put in the tank. At least a month. I would put it in a bowl for a few days and test the water before you add it to you tank.
