Well, I have been helping out a friend who has had an illness in the family, so I have been neglecting my fish tank. Today, I have been showing them some love, but it has been a long time. I usually do a 25% water change every 10-14 days - seems to work best for me. However, it has been well over a month since I have done anything at all besides feed them. Today I did a nice WC, gravel vac, and filter cleaning. I was dreading it, thinking the worst, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that things looked really good. Water was crystal clear, fish showed no signs of stress - it should be noted that I did not take any water parameters - I am not in the habit of doing that much anymore, though I should periodically.
Not sure if it is dumb luck, or if credit is owed to the filter I use, or that I just have really healthy fish to begin with, but all the fish look great. Will do another water change over the weekend, just to get things roling again and get back on my regular schedule. Amazing fish.
